The following is an outline of professional development and other events the Service-Learning Initiative expects to present in the coming year.
Fall Quarter
- October: Celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Service-Learning Initiative
- November: International Service-Learning—World Café Conversation
- December:
- Online discussion (topic to be announced)
- Jointly sponsored workshops with University Outreach and Engagement
- Release of RFP for grants (anticipated)
Winter Quarter
- January: Faculty Spotlight—an experienced service-learning instructor will show how community-based work can be embedded into scholarship
- January: Service-learning grant workshop (tentative)
- February: Taking Service-Learning to the Next Level—Second-level service-learning courses
- March:
- Online discussion (topic to be announced)
- Service-learning grant proposals due (anticipated)
- Service-learning award nominations due
Spring Quarter
- April: Exploring Digital Tools for Service-Learning
- April or May: James F. Patterson Land-Grant University Lecture; announcement of grant recipients
- May: A Celebration of Excellence in Community Service and Scholarship Awards reception
- May: Student Spotlight—a panel of students will discuss the variety of reflection techniques they used in their SL courses, focusing on which ones they preferred or found most effective (in conjunction with Awards reception)
- June: Online discussion (topic to be announced)

The Service-Learning Initiative is gathering information about faculty/staff involvement in service-learning. Please report courses taught, scholarly activity, and professional development needs in our survey.
